WOW, I can't believe this is the first post in this area...
Once you have done all you can to have good keywords, good meta descriptions, good title, and good text on your page that contains all your keywords, generate a sitemap.xml Beyond that, it is all about backlinks from other websites to yours. The more sites that link to your site, the better you rank in google and the more hits you get. The hard part is, where do you go to get the back links? The sites have to be related to yours in some way and in most cases, that means your competitors who would have no interest in linking to you. Can someone shed some light on this topic and the best way to get quality back links from related sites? -------------------- Mike Edwards

Hi Mike, There are lot's of techniques to create back links to your site and it usually starts with providing something of value to the publisher who will be linking back to you. This can be a "widget" (i.e a mortgage calculator with your link embedded that real estate investment sites may use) or it could be a free website template (with your link in the bottom for anybody to download and use). You could find relevant blogs to your niche and provide good comments to get back links or you can provide good content to forums and have your signature contain your links...or above all, you could write and release good articles to digg and other such portals. The key to generating lots of back links is to have good content on your site. Spend time on it and don't let it get stale. You can increase the visibility of your site exponentially with this in mind. You don't want to look for commercial web sites that sell the same services as you do but you want to look for web sites that explain and have information about the type of services you have. They are more likely to link to you. Hope this helps! |

I'm a SEO consultant, and traffic does not come with "good content" only. Why? Well, pages rank based on one thing primarily: inbound links. This means, the more (quality) links point to your site, the more the search engine "pays attention" to the site. But, this is not as simple as it seems. There are several factors you have to consider: where does the link come from? If you have a beauty salon and drop a link on a computer forum, the search engines will know this and will validate the link but will not consider it valuable. And yes, if you haven't figured it out links have a "value" to it depending on where they are hosted, what kind of site it is, etc. Another example would be to place a link on a SPAMMY site... search engines will definitely penalize you too! There's a lot to talk about, and a post won't do it. Just keep in mind that when someone says "just create a bunch of links" they are all wrong and you should walk away--if you care about your site. You, the other poster, or anybody can private message me or contact me for more help through my website. Take care, k. -------------------- San Diego

NHL09's post was about how to get good quality back links... Now, search engines do take inbound links into consideration, but to say your ranking is based off that primarily is taking it a little far. Also to say that good meta's, keywords and title do not help at all is again pretty far fetched. If a search engine was only to take only 1 thing (in this case inbound links) into consideration, we would have a pretty transparent and game-able search engine. I dont know, maybe ask.com is like that. I dont claim to know too much anymore about SEO, but i was into it a couple years ago, and did all the link dev and nonsense like that. But i have seen what changing a couple metas can do on ones site.

for links the best way is to submit to directories & search engines once a month. problem is there is alot of websites out there and alot of websites that pay to be at the top of google. so your screwed either way.
here is my directory i just made. reason i made it is so i can put a link back to other directories when i add myself to them. http://www.dittmerdan.net/directory.htm you can fill your meta with as many keywords you can fit in there. some search engines it will increase traffic a hell of a lot. search engines like google will see millions of keyword tags and kill your site. i personally only use the correct amount of tags on a site. good content helps for home users to link to your site from there own. however if you want to get on the top of google you have to pay. and if you generate income from a site you can deduct advertisment on your taxes. thats what makes sites become successful. is to spend some money for users to purchase goods and display your banners. but if your a non profit site. you cant be spending all that money for a personal profile or some goofy bull malarky another good way is to be famous. like an actor. any site they make is popular. because they are famous. maybe try making a site that is fan based for an actor. then put links back to your website on there. not a bad idea. there is also pay per click sites out there that displays banners of your site on them. like for 10,000 clicks is 35 dollars at this one site i have used in the past. but once again you need to have a buisness or a site that you know everyone will use. that they keep coming back too. like this computerhelpforum. returning visitors hitting your banners over and over even if they dont click them will help. they can click there own banners using differnt ip address's how banners ads up it counts how many impressions there are before a click. that determins how much you get paid. if you get a click every 20 displays it will be less per click then say one click after 200 displays. nice layout - good content - product - and pay for advertisment then once your famous your famous. no need for advertisment. word of mouth will suffice. other good tactics is talk in forums like these and include links to your site. and to join places like myspace or facebook and post blogs so users get in there and read your blogs then include a link to your site in there. create screen names while playing online games to tell your website. like i use the name dittmerdan.net as my username sometimes. yes sometimes you get made fun of. but i bet even the person making fun of you hits your site out of curiosity. on classmates.com i created my profile and as name i put dittmerdanDOTnet . i know its a sneaky move and it may be deleted later. but everyone I went to school with is going to hit that up. bumper sticker on your car. submit to craigslist if its a service or whatnot. put an ad in the paper. put a sign in front of your house. any way to get a hit to your site and a possible rehit anything you do is worth it. also make sure you have proper code and doctype visit http://validator.w3.org/ and use the htmltidy to clean your code up This post has been edited by dittmerdan: Sep 8 2009, 01:37 PM -------------------- - cyberpirate forum's - sign guestbook - my myspace|__________________________________________________________| firefox - ubuntu - avg anti-virus - malwarebytes - threatfire - testdisk - hijack this - ad-aware - comodo security - winsock fix - no file recovery - scandisk - memtest - ccleaner - file recovery - spybot - slax linux - clonezilla - disk defrag - ultimate boot cd - bootdisk - speedfan Sorry I do not always follow posts. so if i dont respond back. just send me a private message or email and tell me to wake up. give link to topic please. |

There are three very simple rules for increasing traffic.
Content, Content and MORE CONTENT To be more precise, relevent and interesting content without this any web site will plain suck no matter how fancy the SEO or number of backlinks -------------------- |
