If you are not aware of any programming language just now, then first you will learn 'C' language.which has the base of other programming languages.

I think you should definately try to do VB. That's where I started out. It's super easy, very forgiving, and gives you a general outline on how to program.
I've learned a total of 4 languages, and I probably would have failed super hard if I had started with some of the harder ones. (C, C++ and Java)
I wouldn't start out with Java or any of the C languages. Oh, almost forgot, why do you have an interest in programming? Do you just like the idea, making games, etc?

If you want with basic then go with C and you can also start with HTML.
Before any higher language you start it is better you know all about basic and clear your fundamentals.
Nowadays there is so much demand of PHP. So keep it as your Goal.

Hi.... In my point of view that first you have to learn C language because this is good start for beginners to know all programming concept of any language.

I think you must start with the C programming language. As it is the basic language for all further languages in programming world. So try to start with C so you can understand the concept in other programming languages.

But for a hobbyist at home I think you can get a lot further a lot faster with a loosely typed language like PHP.

Yes I agree - PHP is very much like C for a beginner but you don't have to worry about types and memory management.. then if you later have a reason to use C pick up the extras. Although saying that, knowing C first then going to PHP is simple and not daunting like the other way around wink3.gif

Hi,
Your first programming language will have a profound impact. It affects your programming style, coding method, and code quality in many subtle ways. In fact, this issue is so vital that there is a surprisingly large amount of literature available on the topic.

Thanks
