I think when it comes to one of those questions that can always be answered 4 months 4 years dosent matter. The more options the read has the better if you ask me. I would rather have one post 5 years old with new post offering solutions than 100 threads asking the same thing=) BTW I can recommend Server Intellect if your looking for Windows Hosting. One of the better asp.net host I have worked with.

I have never been a believer in free hosting because you get what you pay for. Free hosting usually forces ads on your site because they have to make their money somehow. The ones that don't force ads usually have crappy service, no support, and bad reliability.

Try www.deltatechnicalservices.com for a economical alternative. They have great support and are very reliable.

I recommend BlueHost.com. I have been using them for years. Their interface is extremely simple to use, feature rich, and well laid out. When you do have a question they almost always answer within seconds of calling and every support person seems to know the answer to every question I have had. Here is a link to see what they offer: http://www.BlueHost.Com/tellmemore

I'm with Mike. If you're just putting up a little page for yourself and it's nothing serious you might be able to get by with a free host. That said I can't believe how cheap hosting is and that any of these bulk hosting companies actually make money. When you think of the equipment they need and the techies they have to pay and they're offering accounts for insanely low rates... but, for bulk hosts I'd do my web hosting with Lunarpages.

That said consider your web host the same thing as if you were renting an office or storefront for your business. Would you rent the shack because it's cheaper? Even though it'll come down in the first rainstorm and no one will take your business seriously? (if there's frequent downtime it does hurt your search engine rankings)

000webhost.com

They have very good free hosting option also.
The only thing is they cheats on their Affiliate Program, which is incomprehensible for me.
