The system restore partition that you were looking at is just that: a system restore. It is there in the event the main install gets screwed over by a virus or in teh more extreme cases, the user, and it can no longer function. I is written on the hard drive near the hub of the disk, so there is little, if any impact on performance. However, your C: partition, which is the main boot partition and the one you work with on a day to day basis with your documents, music, pics, w/e, sounds like it is screwed up. Davonator seems to have it covered, but you need to regularly have your drive defragmented to keep your machine from slowing down. My suggestion would to use Ultimate Defrag, as you can use it to actually see how badly your hard drive is defragmented.
