I recently tried to reformat my computer but, turns out i didn't need to. I put the CD in and one thing lead to another. Now everytime i start my computer, it shows a black screen with white text asking me to choose windows x[ home edition or windows set up and I if don't choose in tiem it goes to windows set up so i have to restart my computer and it gets annoying.

  1. Right-click My Computer
  2. Select Properties
  3. Advanced tab
  4. Startup and Recovery, [Settings]
  5. System startup, [Edit] opens boot.ini in NOTEPAD

(See screen-shot)

In NOTEPAD, the boot.ini text should read:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
