how to find and install orginal bios driver !!!

I used this driver scanner updator program on my pc, but it installed something that changed the bios.

There is no official update at HP's driver site for the bios and I can't download the orginal default drivers.

How can I recover the orginal bios then?

(My real problem is that closing some movies will make the entire PC freeze up, and the last thing I can think of is the bios since I already tried to format C:\ and install windows again - Some Ethernet-controller and SM-buscontroller keep popping up under my hardware that wasn't there before I installed some stupid nvidia driver update from this driver scanner program)

A bios update is the last thing that I would recommend to anyone. I would advise not to do a bios update unless you are very sure that the bios update is for your computer. Most of the time, I would advise users to seek a reply from their respective computer brand company before proceeding with the update for bios, and record that conversation, so that if anything goes wrong, you can get someone to blame. biggrin3.gif

Anyway, the entire driver package is here

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...;product=373240

I suggest you do not touch the bios update first, it may be caused by other issues. Such as codec.

You have successfully formatted? or just tried to format?

I suggest you do a total HP recovery procedure and restore it to a factory state instead. Use the recovery disks included. Or else if you have a recovery partition, use the special combination key when you start up the HP PC

As stated in this article
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...p;product=18703

Press F11 on startup to start the Recovery

Yes, I have formated c !? I have been working a lot with PC's with out any problems, but some driver from a driver scanner program I tried really screwed up a lot of things, and no its not the codec because it never did anything like this at all before I installed the drivers.

And no I didn't create any recovery backup of the orginal drivers, because the program said the drivers was "safe to install"....

If you have a recovery partition inside the system, you just need to Press F11 repeatedly the moment you power up the computer.

Then the whole installation will take it from there, you do not have to do anything.

Maybe just say yes to recover to factory defaults

Ok, I will try it and get back to you again in a moment biggrin3.gif Thank you. (just hope its not windows system recovery or something, because its a clean installed windows)

EDITED:

Ok, its F10 and it will give me access to windows system recovery - but I can't use that for anything when it comes to my issue.

Isn't there a way to flash the bios with orginal drivers or something?

Even if there was the original bios Sadly, there is no backward flashing when it comes to bios flashing. And to do that, you will need a functioning Windows OS.

Looks, like you will need to install a fresh Windows with a XP installation disk

Just download DBAN and zero the whole drive. Your board should be fine.

Use those drivers from HP site, and there should be no issues.

First you will need to download a file called Darik's Boot And Nuke
http://www.dban.org/download

You will need to use a computer that is working properly to do this. Burn the downloaded file to a blank CD using any CD burning software. Select the option "Burn image to disc" that exists in any burning software.

Now this Dban nuke software is a program that runs from Dos and is able to write zeros to the whole drive, or in other words reset your drive.

Insert this CD that you have burned and insert it into your computer first before you reboot. You will need to change the boot sequence to allow your computer to boot off the CD. [ I assume you know this part. ]

The CD should load and you will enter the Dban software. Use the keyboard and select quick zero or full zero. It does not matter. One will take longer than the other that's all.

Once this process is complete, take it out and insert your Windows XP CD and do the format and re-install again.

Here's a guide if you need it.

I just want to add, never use those driver scanner programs that tell you drivers to get...they are junk.

Thank you guys, I have downloaded and burned the program with nero burning and is now copying everything I need from the C:\ drive and then I will reboot and clean the drive 100% before I install windows again.

Hope this will fix the driver problem I have, otherwise I don't know what to do :-S unsure3.gif
