This is something that I've thought about and haven't concluded with an answer, I'd like to know yours. Sorry if I describe things wrong these types of things make more sense in my head.
According to The Conservation of Energy, energy cannot be created or destroyed but can be transformed from one form to another and transferred from one body to another. Yet many scientists and astronomers such as Stephen Hawking say that the Universe is expanding and that new stars and planets are being created. If the Universe is expanding out of nothing and no new energy can be created, what is happening to the energy currently in the Universe? Is it being stretched or manipulated in some other way? If there is no new energy created and yet there is new parts of the Universe being created, is there any energy there at all? grab A Briefer History of Time by Hawkins, its an easier read than his book Brief History of Time. It doesnt go into big physics theories/calculations as the first one does.

In my opinion it is coming from what they call Dark Matter. Maybe even anti matter?
The energy from one of those matters is being converted, some how, to energy of regular matter and it's being transfered or something... haha, that's just my theory.. Or maybe... worm holes exist and we were getting new energy through those which is expanding our universe from another universe or parrallel.. I don't know.. My physics teacher in college said that physics cannot even prove the basis on which it is built upon so who knows.. -------------------- Please post back with updates! The new stars and planets are being created by the remnant energy from the big bang i was told

It's no big mystery how star systems are formed. If clouds of interstellar gas and particles gain enough mass, they collapse and form stars. Accretion disks of space debris form around the stars and form planets and other phenomena like asteroids and planetoids.
As far as the universe as a whole goes, of course the big bang started it off, but astronomers and cosmologists have discovered that the expansion of the universe is actually increasing in speed. They attribute that fact to something called dark energy. It's a hypothetical energy that along with dark matter is supposed to make up most of the mass of the universe. -------------------- jacobbowser's latest Twitter update:
