Hey everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I don't want to turn this into a rant but have something I want to say to all the people here that are posting for help....
I joined this forum recently to share whatever knowledge I posses to try and help those with tech problems. I do this because I enjoy it and also because whilst I'm here to help, I'm also here to learn for myself. There are a lot of times when a problem can be resolved in more then one way, often I will suggest things that I know myself and other times things that I go and research for others. Those that have read my generally lengthly and as in depth as possible posts may have noticed that at the end of trouble shooting I often say..."good luck and please post back to let us know how you got on!" I don't say this for the fun of it!.....I genuinely am trying to help but in return I would be equally grateful if when someone resolves a problem they are having through a post of mine, they post back one last time to let me know. I'm not some ego maniac looking for thanks or praise, I simply would find it very useful to know what specifically I said that resolved the problem, so I can use it for future reference for myself and to aid others. THIS ISN'T A DEMAND....JUST A POLITE REQUEST!:)......from looking back through the 50+ posts I have made so far, I would say that over 80% have not had the original posted reply back. I don't think I'm being inpatient, as if someone is needy enough to post in here, surely they have the time to check back once or twice?! In truth a lot of problems can be resolved through search engines, the personal approach that the forum allows for is much nicer though and it is free!....so something that should be appreciated, I'm sure you all agree? For those that don't....bookmark Google and use that from now on! Like I said, this wasn't suppose to be a rant, sorry if that is how it seems, but felt this needed to be said. Note to Admins/Mods: Is there any possibility that this can be pinned in all the tech forums please?...not just for mine, but all contributors sakes! Thank you all for your time. -------------------- PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU'RE A GUEST/NEW MEMBER ASKING FOR HELP! "IF IN DOUBT....REBOOT!" - I CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE I GOT THAT FROM BUT IT SURE CAN WORK! CLASSIC - "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!" |
