hey

this is my first post here

here is my problem

i turn on my computer then and for about a minutes or 3 it is functioning properly but it won t last 5 minutes and it will shut down it self when i shuts down it show me the blue shutting down page.

then tries to restart but doesn t and turns off again and loops for about 2-4 mins then shuts it self off completely

also if i don t press the power button (on the computer) it will turn it self on then loops into on/off

one more thing it is connected straight to the socket

i recently restarted my whole computer (deleted everything using disk) and backed up on my external hard drive

i know i shouldn t have done this but i did it anyway it was restoring everything and then i shut it down as a result of this the external hard drive had missing partition or something not sure if that has something to do with this

here are my specs
emachines 2230 about 5-7 years old
1.2 gb ram (originaly 256 mb but uprageded to 1.2 gb about 1 year ago)
325 intel celeron D 2.53 ghz

and i also checked the capcitors they were okay no leaking or bulging

thanks for any help

Do you have any idea what the Blue screen of death says?

Im guessing:
A: A corrupted windows

the 3 beeps, are they fast all together or slower. 3 beeps is usually related to memory or your video card. can you take off the side and see if the video card fan is spinning?

I wrote up a guide long ago for this sort of problem with beeps..
I will go fetch it..

http://mr.n.antithesisgames.com/Beep%20Cod...ror%20Codes.txt

Just navigate to that TXT file, find the vendor of your BIOS and check what 3 beeps mean!
Here are the ones that seem relevant

IBM standard codes:
3 long beeps 3270 keyboard card

AMI BIOS:
3 Short Beeps Memory failure in the first 64 KB

Its a sure case of some malware which is causing your PC to start and shut down in loops. Might be some internal mistake as well but such probablity is quite less.
