Hello,

I am running Vista on a Gateway T-1628 Laptop. Lately, it has really slowed down due to bad internet surfing, and I wish to 'wipe' the laptop clean. However, I paid $120 when I bought it for Microsoft Office. I want to keep the program. So my question is in two parts:

1. How do I 'wipe' my computer down? Get rid of everything- I have backed up my essential files.
2. How do I 'wipe it down while retaining MS Office?

Thank you for the help,

Dave

I would suggest saving Microsoft Office on a USB drive or CD before wiping out your system. Do that and then uninstall and reinstall your operating system. That should clean out everything.

Thanks for the quick help, guys.

I might have the product key around somewhere but I thought that it only allowed you install it once, then the key becomes obsolete...

I have the Gateway disk that will reinstall the operating system, but how I do I reinstall Vista? Sorry if thats a pretty noob question...

product keys are usually good for around at least 3 uses. (i've personally used ms office 2007 on 3 of my computers).

and that gateway cd should be the one to reinstall vista.
