I have Compaq computer using Windows XP professional. I couldn't boot it. I got error message "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". I rebooted computer with XP CD-ROM, clicked repair and ran chkdsk /r. After about 30 minutes, 25% of checking hard drive, it stopped with the error that the volume seems to contain one or more unrecoverable errors. How it possible for chkdsk to stop working? Did anybody have similar experience? Even if certain part of disk is bad, it should mark it bad and continue verification. Do I make sense?

Anytime that I've had that happen, it's been because the hard drive was either dying or dead. Hope you have backups somewhere!

I would have to 2nd Bayp's conclusion as it has happened once to me after a hard drive died BUT if you dont have backups here is a solution that sometimes works for some people(Worked for my friend!)
Freeze your hard drive! Not like with a program, but actually put it in the frezer! And after 1 night or so take it out,put it in your computer and get alll the data off really damn fast! I have no idea how this works but it just does! -------------------- May i remind you that i take no responsibility for any injuries/deaths that may occour from the above post.
I dont use hard drives,i just have 35 chinease teenagers in my basement and i force them to memorize numbers. Email me @ Ma email Add me on steam @ Alex4921 Add me on Xbox Live @ "Alex B Cant Die" Add me on MSN if you really want and don't have steam cause i never go on MSN and never check the emails on there @ Here Did a solution i posted worked? Did i managed to brick your computer? Well then post back and tell me so i know for next time ! |
