Hi. Our modem recently stopped working and we had to use our old one And now when i download stuff the download-speed only goes to about 275kb/s - 345kb/s when with the other modem it was up to 600kb/s - 1MB/s Why is this? is there some settings wrong or something or like a block? We only have one computer on the network and it worked fine before. Dont explain to me in any REALLY hard ways cuz im not really a computer expert.

Maybe 3 yrs old. But it also got up to those speeds before. So its kinda strange that it would stop now. This modem was even better before cuz i used to be able to play Aliens Vs Predator 2 in multiplayer but now i cant anymore and i never could with the modem that just broke down. so i have no idea what has happened...

in swapping modems, did uninstall the drivers for the one that died first? then install the new drivers for your older one.

Have you checked your firewall? Anyway, I recommend you to clean up junk files and registry as well.

Hi Friend,
The health of your computer can affect your Internet connection. Spyware and viruses can definitely cause problems, but your Internet connection speed can also be affected by add-on programs, the amount of memory the computer has, hard disk space and condition.

Thanks,
James
