Hi there chaps,
I'm running an old laptop (4years) with WinXP home edition. Any more info you need I can post. My wireless has started going mental recently, one network 1: Virgin with Netgear WGR614 v9 router, I used to connect to without problems. Now however when trying to connect with DHCP its just sits there saying "Aquiring network address" over and over again. I've tried static IP, to which it responded by saying "Connected" "Not Connected" "Connected" "Not Connected" every 3 seconds, over and over and over. I pinged 127.0.0.1, no problem. I ping the router and it'll tell me hardware error when its "not connected" and then time out when it "connected" I've disabled UPnP, added my laptops wireless MAC and IP to the router address reserve. I can't figure it out, its driving me nuts!!! The worst thing is that I can be sat there bashing my face against the keyboard crying and swearing and threatening it, then all of a sudden it will connect and stay connected and be fine. WTF!!!??? First, nothing lasts forever, so how old is your Netgear Router
When you state your problem, is it your Desktop PC used to manage your Router? Or is it ONLY your Wireless connections? Then, have you checked with your ISP to see if they are having problems at their end? Your ISP should provide you with more help on troubleshoot your problem. -------------------- Tecknomage

Hey man, Cheers for your reply, its not the router, as thats pretty much new, but I'm thinking its my network adapter in my laptop. I've tried connecting to multiple networks over the past few days and had no luck with any of them each for a different reason. Looks like its time for a new Lappy, thanks anyway. |

Hi Wiggle. go into device manager and disable the wireless network adapter...then re-enable it. sometimes this will kickstart the connection
