I'm pretty sure it's a transistor anyways; Big cylindrical thing sticking up with "F287 1500 6.3V" written on top. There's 10 of them and two (the 6.3V ones) seem to have exploded. I can try and take pictures if nobody knows what I'm talking about.
Is this fixable, and where would I buy a knew one? o_O
It's an XFX Geforce 9600 GT, by the way. And it still works, but my computer freezes when playing movies and games on occasion.
Thank you!
And uh, I suck at electronics. A little research found that it's a blown cap of a capacitor. But still don't know where to buy knew ones at.
you cant fix it yourself. its either going to be the video card was crap...you can buy another.
or something on your motherboard caused it, in which case you will likely blow a new card if you buy one.
As long as your registered the card after you purchased it you should have lifetime warranty on it. Check with XFX.
if you really want to fix it your self... its probably gonna be very hard because the soldiar is so small...but you can probably order the chips you need from the company of the card... or if you cant order them from there then try calling sony or some other electronic companies out there... im pretty shure you can get the chips somewhere..... or try radio shack! radio shack can order them from somewhere for you but theres other places too im pretty shure...hope this helps! good luck my friend!
Well I bought new transistors from Mouser electronics online. They were less than a dollar each, so I thought I'd try to fix it myself...What's the worse that can happen!
Thanks for your guys' inputs though, and I'll update on what I break...I mean fix.
all you have to do is have faith in yourself. and try not to get nerves and make your hands shake because if your hands shake you might not soldier the things right but just have faith in yourself before you take out the chips and make shure the card is out first before you fix it. good luck my friend!
