I have had this irritating problem for a while now which I have already tried to fix by using info from several websites but its still bugging me.
The problem is that the computer makes no sound (except for beeping) for some reason and the volume button says "no audio output device is installed". Checked the device manager and found that the high definition audio controller has encountered a problem "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)". I have already tried several solutions including uninstalling it so the machine would automatically reinstall it but whenever I try this upon restart I just find that the high definition audio controller is still there as if it was never uninstalled at all which is also quite weird. Can someone give me a hand here because I just dont know what to try next. Thanks! |

The driver returned failure from its DriverEntry routine. Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.
On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. |

Ok then when I tried to uninstall then scan for system changes I get notified that driver software is being installed but after a small amount of time I am then notified that the software was not succesfully installed and the high definition audio controller returns as it was before under System devices with a error message next to it.
When I tried to check for solutions in the general properties tab it seems to load for a second then does nothing. I forgot to mention this machine is a vista. |
