Hello,
My computer freezed up a lot of tines lately so I ran PC Check on it. The results were all good except for the microtopolgy test. It failed in 3 of the 4 memory topology tests. I believe it means that three of my four RAM memory (I have four RAM memory, each of 256 MB) have a problam. Can anyone tell me what is memory microtopolgy, can it make my computer freez up sometimes and what can I do to stop it? |

Microtopology is an extensive test performed on memory that stresses the stick(s) on many different levels including multiple read/write cycles, dump cycles, and heat testing. Some tests (BBDiag for example) perform multiple microtopology tests on each stick to insure accuracy, while others only perform one per stick, so it depends on what program you used to test it as to whether 3 sticks are bad, or if only one or two are bad (I believe PC Check only runs one test per stick, but don't quote me on that, because I don't use the software). Either way, when a stick of RAM fails the microtopology test, it is considered bad and needs to be pulled from the machine. Your best bet would be to individually test the sticks one at a time to diagnose the problem, or run a different diagnostic. -------------------- ![]() |

I also had failed Microtopology tests for both my RAM modules. They worked fine before, then I moved the PC to another house, changed the hard disk, and VGA card and suddenly it started to crash at start up and sometimes after a few hours. PC check runs perfectly well except Memory microtopology test for both memory modules fail. Can this be a BIOS setting problem or is just bad luck that this happened at the same time as the move?
Thanks a lot for help |

Thanks a lot for help from my exp, you need to change you ram sticks.... my computer crashed every time i made the cpu work hard (like any game or running an anti spaywere & an anti virus program at the same time). I dont think it is a bios problam but chk if your bios is on "halt on - no errors", just to be sure that it is not the problam |
