Hey ive been having an extremely frustrating problem with my computer. I had a HP pavilion which would instantly go into sleep mode when i turned on. The fans would spin and led light up, but the keyboard, mouse and monitors would go into sleep mode. There was no beeps from the motherboard and since the computer was 4 years old i decided to start over new.
I decided to buy all the comp parts and assembly it myself. The only thing i took from the old computer was the hard drive, video card, and dvd. When i turned the new computer on i get the same exact problem as the first hp. It doesnt load up to the standard starting screen. Ive been stumped for a few days now, help would be greatly appreciated.

Well it sounds like the reason you are having the same problem is because you took the same hard drive (which has the problem) from your last computer.

when does it go into sleep mode?? after you log in? before?
Are you able to go into safe mode??
Do you have any important files on that hard drive that you need off?

My suggestions would be to:

1. Try sleep mode and see if you can either change the computer settings (in the power Options)
2. You can reformat your computer as long as you have your Windows disc that came with the PC (this would Wipe all of your Data)
3. Or you could Buy another hard drive Put it as the Primary hard drive and the other hard drive as secondary format that hard drive with an OS and you should be able to pull your files off of the old hard drive that you made your secondary drive.

If you need more information or have any questions or problems let me know

Hope this helps

I would recommend to consult you some computer repairing shop for the problem you are facing right at the moment. They can better suggest you what to do.
