I was shopping around for a flat panel TV but I'm not sure if I should go plasma or LCD. I'm looking for one that's 30" and above.
Any help would be appreciated since I don't know much about shopping for a flat panel TV.

I would go for LCD. I just think they look much better than Plasma...and are usually cheaper.

Go LCD. Also if you're looking around for cheapness Vizio tends to be pretty cheap sometimes.

Here's the main difference between LCD and plasma, if you think that they are the same.

LCD = as the name. [ Liquid crystal display]
Means that the picture is formed up using crystals, Basically, such displays lasts longer and does not fail. Only the pixels get damaged over age , but the screen will be viewable, except with black dots or white patches.
Even if light bulb is dead, you can still use a normal lamp to shine at the screen, and use it as normal.

Plasma.
It has brighter and more vibrant colors as compared to a LCD screen. If you need to put a display in a brightly lit area like shopping malls or open area. Plasma would be a better choice than LCD.
However, plasma tvs would suffer from "burn in's" more easily. Especially, when watching over the air channels which has the channel logo displayed at the top right hand corner most of the time.

Burn in means that, even if you watch DVD you will still see the logo shadow there. The only way is to run screen saver when you are not watching.
